Floor Construction

This page will document the construction of the floor as I go.
Since this is my first attempt, you may see changes take place as I go.

First I had to bring the entire frame up to the same level. Since the frame is 2" tubular steel with angle iron crossmembers welded underneath, I had to use 2x2s to bring the whole thing up to the same even surface.
On a side note, almost all of these 2X2s were part of the original walls of the Scotty and the Timberline. I decided that since they were in pretty decent shape, and I have a very very limited budget, I would re-use them. I had a very boring time pulling all of the staples out of them, but it saved me a ton of $$$.

That's how far I am as of today, 10/30/04.

10/31/04, Today I managed to get quite a bit of the floor done. It is 3/4 Plywood. I wasn't planning on using that heavy a board, but my father-in-law had it sitting in his storage, and offered it, so I went with it.

The "holes" on the sides are where the wheelwells will go, I am not quite sure of the space they will take up until I get the axle back on, so I left them open for now.
Hopefully tomorrow I will get the drop floor done. I can't wait to start on the walls.

11/3/04 I managed to get the floor done except for the wheelwells, which will be incorporated into the walls/bunks. I decided to keep the drop floor, which will help with a table, which I decided I may as well build in.

If you notice and strange marks on the plywood floor, I used some 3/4" scraps that were part of a construction project, for the smaller pieces, the marks were caused by tape that was on the wood.

Tomorrow I start with laying out the walls.

Come back often as I am working on this almost every night.
