Walls

Here are the walls going up.
I will be using a glue laminate technique, This involves cutting thin strips of wood, then gluing them together in the desired curve shape you want.

Here is the basic outline of the walls. I am sorry for the angle and closeness of the pics, but all I have to work in is a 10'X20' canopy with tarps wrapped around the outsides, since it is November, it's a little cold working in there, and also hard to get back far enough to take good pictures.

This is the front curve of the walls, I'd like to thank two fellow Teardroppers, Andrew and Mike for their great help in figuring out the radius of these curves.

Here is the rear curve. Hopefully, I will be able to get the side framing done over the next few days, but with the cold weather it will be a long process for the gluing, if I don't figure out a heat source in the canopy.

Well, That's how far I am as of today, 11/05/04, which also happens to be my 38th birthday, Happy birthday to me.

11/8/04 Ok over the last few days I managed to get some of the framing done, and a few more layers of the glue lam framing done. I can't go too fast as glue doesn't dry well in the cold. I am thinking of taking one of the camper furnaces I have and hooking it up to a 20lb propane tank in the "garage" to get some heat in there... what do you think??

Anyway here are some pics of how far I am now.

11/11/04 I took a day off from the tear due to the cold, but I have managed to get some more done on the left side glue lam work. I also managed to pick up a few more packages of clamps..making a total of 96, and I think I will get one more package, (16 in a pack). Anyway here are some more pics.

It's a clamp invasion, hehe.

This is my oldest son Morgan, age 7 helping with the sanding, now that he can see it starting to take shape, he wants to be involved... if I could just get my other 5 kids involved I would get done rather quick.

This next pic shows the framing for the slide-out opening, I decided I had better curve the top as I don't want any rain to sit on a flat top.

Here you can see the layers in the framing where I glue the 1/8 in thick slices together to form the curves.

Ok I have tomorrow and the next day off, I am hoping to get this side done and the next at least part way done.

Hopefully it is starting to look like something to you all.
